At First Baptist Church, we are passionate about making Christ known in our city, our state, our nation, and around the world. To carry out our purpose in glorifying God in missions and evangelism, we have made Acts 1:8 our paradigm for doing missions on a local, state, national, and international level.
Jesus said in Acts 1:8
“[Y]ou will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
Our “Jerusalem” is the city of Lovington. With an estimated 13,110 people that live within our city, an estimated 11,144 people are unchurched (meaning they do not attend a Christian place of worship). We believe salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, so we actively reach out to our community through: LIFE Groups, Vacation Bible School, Bus Ministry, support of our local food bank, and much, much more.
Our “Judea” is the state of New Mexico. We are affiliated with the Baptist Convention of New Mexico and both give and serve in helping plant churches and strengthen existing ones in our state.
Our “Samaria and Ends of the Earth” are national and international missions. Members of First Baptist Church have gone, literally, across the globe to carry out the Good News of Jesus. Whether it’s construction work and daycare ministry in Kentucky, Disaster Relief in New York, drilling wells in Africa, or Vacation Bible School in Canada, our church has a passion for making Christ known around the world.
